چکیده

Abstract In order to establish a more rational structural design method for mortar-filled sleeve rebar splices, it is necessary analyze and evaluate factors affecting the performance of these splices. It very desirable be able quantitatively estimate failure mode splices at stage. A estimating presented from existing research not clear because boundary expressed in formulas. There are also limitations using methods based on limited number test variables, insufficient specimens, fact that only steel pipe sleeves were used. Therefore, general comprehensive estimation method, needs quantitative explicit fashion evaluated diverse variables. this study, as part an effort generate basic data establishment bond strength equations addition, examine suitability modes 303 evaluated. The evaluation results indicated proposed by study would yield with sufficiently practical accuracy.

Effect of sleeve length on deformation properties of grouted splices

Tests on 12 grouted splices were performed to investigate their deformation properties under tensile loading. Test variables included diameter and type of spliced bars and the size of splicing sleeves. Finite element method based models of the splices were built, verified and used to investigate the effect of sleeve length on the deformation properties of the grouted splices. The sleeve length ...

Mode I Concrete Characterization using Rebar Induction Heating

Reinforced concrete is a composite material consisting in a rebar embedded in a concrete matrix. The structural equilibrium depends of the quality of bond between the two materials as well as the intrinsic quality of each of the components. When the structure is submitted to heating, cracking can occur due to the difference in thermal expansion properties between the two materials. In the prese...

Failure of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy--further procedure?

BACKGROUND Worldwide, the incidence of morbid obesity is increasing, and surgery is the only effective longterm treatment. Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) is associated with acceptable weight loss and reduced comorbidities. It is considered a safe procedure with sporadic complications. This publication aims to describe failures of LSG in terms of ineffective weight loss or early weight re...

The failure mode of correlation focusing for model velocity estimation

We analyze the correlation focusing objective functional introduced by van Leeuwen and Mulder to avoid the cycle-skipping problem in full waveform inversion. While some encouraging numerical experiments were reported in the transmission setting, we explain why the method cannot be expected to work for general reflection data. We characterize the form that the adjoint source needs to take for mo...

Effects of number of freeze-thaw cycles and freezing temperature on mode I and mode II fracture toughness of cement mortar

Natural and artificial materials including rocks and cement-based materials such as concrete and cement mortar are affected both physically and chemically by various natural factors known as weathering factors. The freeze-thaw process, as a weathering factor, considerably affects the properties of rocks and concrete. Therefore, the effect of the freeze-thaw process on the physical and mechanica...
